
Önder Küçükural completed his doctorate in the Political Science Program of Sabancı University. Focusing on religious reasoning in her doctoral thesis, Küçükural examined the dynamics that make it possible to display a pluralistic attitude on politics and gender issues with an ethnographic study. He graduated from the Middle East Technical University, Department of Psychology and Sociology, with a double major program. Later, he completed his master’s degree in the Sociology Department of the same university with his thesis on the dynamics of opposition to the European Union among young people. He was a visiting researcher at Georgetown University in Washington DC for one year in 2011-2012. Küçükural, who has been involved in many research projects in areas such as sustainable development, social structure and religion in Turkey, masculinity, citizenship, civil society, and old age, has his main interests in sustainable development, and transition to a low carbon economy and sociology of religion. He is the author of the books “Religiousness in Turkey”, “Lifestyle Preferences for the Elderly and Their Relatives” and “Spiritual Searches in Turkey”.
Dr Önder Küçükural, one of the founding members of the Climate Research Association, is a faculty member at the Alliance of Civilizations Institute at Ibn Haldun University.
