Dr. Ali Ertuğ Erçin

After graduating from Middle East Technical University Civil Engineering in 2001, Dr Erçin continued his scientific research on sustainable water management, water efficiency and water footprint in the Netherlands and completed his doctorate at Twente University in 2012.

He has been involved in international projects for the last 20 years as a scientific researcher, consultant, policy expert and project manager in the field of water management, sustainability and climate change. He specializes in water use and allocation, river basin management, water efficiency, water risks, climate change and the effects of extreme weather events on agriculture.

Having been a pioneer in developing sustainable water strategies for international companies, local governments and countries, Dr Erçin has worked with intergovernmental organizations such as IFC, World Bank, United Nations, European Commission, and United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.

Dr Erçin is also the author of more than 50 scientific publications and has attended various meetings, conferences and workshops as a speaker. He is currently leading projects on climate change, sustainable water use and management in agriculture, industry and river basins for the European Union.
