Climate Resistant and Sustainable Bee Ranges Pilot Implementation Project

“Climate Resistant and Sustainable Bee Ranges Pilot Implementation Project” supported within the scope of Turquoise Coast Environment Fund – Turkey (TCEF) implemented in cooperation with Conservation Collective and Support Foundation for Civil Society, is conducted by the Climate Research Association. Environment and Bee Protection Association (ÇARIK) and Marmaris Ecological Agricultural Development Cooperative are the beneficiaries of the project.

The overall aim of the project is to sustain beekeeping activities in Marmaris with less environmental impact and more benefits, and to vary local products and livelihoods. Our project basically aims to reveal the benefits of the transition to the new production method in the region by making use of climate models and to identify possible scenarios.

Besides revealing the climate risks of the existing/traditional beekeeping activities in Marmaris beekeeping regions, the environmental/economic benefits to be provided by the dissemination of the “Bee Pasture” system will be revealed with the project activities to be carried out within this framework,

As a result of the activities that will last for 12 months, the expected gains from the project are summarized below:

  • Increasing the climate resistance of beekeeping activities
  • Reducing the environmental impact of beekeeping activities
  • Evolution of ecosystem services
  • Measuring the economic benefit and feasibility created by the Bee Pasture model
